Zodama
An absolutely compulsory tool for all fans of driving, uplifting and bleeping techno. The Smith and Selway remix of Signal 9 reminds of the classic Weather (Mayhem Mix), another favorite of theirs. Nothing overly imaginative, but with its rolling drum kicks, multiple ringing and echoing hooks, euphoric build ups leading to one ecstatic outburst after the other, you’ll never want it to end when you hear it get dropped. Chris Liebing brings the typical CLAU sound to the table remixing the A1 track on DC25. Hard, repetitive loops banging on and on for more than anyone would want them to, but it serves the purpose. A few pauses, or “deconstructions” if you prefer, always followed by even larger climaxes, or so it is supposed to sound, but actually a tendency is created leaving us with the impression of the track actually evolving, but it’s basically the same arrangement separated by three breaks and random filter sweeps. However, it reminds me of the A side tune on CLAU 08, which is another noteworthy Liebing utensil in my opinion. Overall, for those DJs who like to see their crowd completely lose it on the floor, this is a very good investment. Comes highly recommended with the Drumcode 25 release, which is remixed here.
