Limited edition of 499 copies on black vinyl. Track positions are sequentially listed on back cover.

This album is comprised of remixes of Coil's music that were originally used as the soundtrack for the performance art piece "Plastic Spider Thing." It was first released on Coil's Eskaton label in 2002, credited to Black Sun Productions only. The marketing of the work as "Coil with Black Sun Productions" was undertaken by Rustblade Records, the label that reissued it in 2017, a number of years after the passing of both John Balance and Peter Christopherson.

Just because these guys shamelessly put the Coil name on the album cover does not make this an official Coil release. Coil had absolutely zero input in the creation, composition, arrangement etc. of this release and it wasn't until after both of the founding members were dead that they reissued it and put the Coil name on the cover to cash in on the Coil name. Neither of the guys who put it together were ever members of Coil. It is an absolute travesty and I personally will fight to no end to see that it is not listed as an official Coil release. There is no way in hell Peter or Jhonn would have called this a Coil release if they were here....especially considered how absolutely particular they were about what they released under the Coil name. This is a crime.

I don't really see the problem with this if someone that had significant involvement in the creative process authorized the release. Do we know? Obtaining permission of someone that is not able to give it should not be required to reissue in this context. I agree the packaging should have been better. Double LPs should always properly be in a gatefold cover.

Djang
I was referring to someone who is deceased not being able to authorize a release. If someone is alive and they performed on it it shouldn't be reissued without their consent. Since this was your work how did this happen? Did someone that has control over the master tapes authorize it? Are you taking them to court?

Pruster
Bullshit! I'm able to give permission, Mr. Lautremont. It was a my collaboration with peter christopherson/eskaton. i never gave permission for this cheap edition! Greetings draZen

2 lps stuck into a cover that fits one lp, making this badly packaged.

Yes, the spider now sucks out the victim. Other people close to Coil looking to cash in on their name. Sorry for me this is shameful. This and other post mortem releases are done without the agreement of the original artists - and not even good. Leave Coil (rest) in peace now.

Nahelm
so true! it was my collaboration with peter christopherson. they never asked me for permission to remix this record. sociopathic parasites!

I was on the fence about this release for that very reason, definitely going to avoid this one.
