Notes

180 gram heavyweight vinyl in gatefold sleeve. Issued with black die-cut antistatic protective inner.

"Most of the music contained in this album originates from recordings I made in London in 1982, whilst working on the score for the film Blade Runner. Finding myself unable to release these recordings at the time, it is with great pleasure that I am able to do so now. Some of the pieces contained will be known to you from the Original Soundtrack of the film, whilst others are appearing here for the first time. Looking back at Ridley Scott's powerful and evocative pictures left me as stimulated as before, and made the recompiling of this music, today, an enjoyable experience."

Fantastic pressing! Very dynamic sound, almost no pops. High res. pics used for the covers, and nice solid gatefold cover. Very recommended.

What can I add to what others have already written? This is a beautiful record and is so cohesive as a piece of music in its own right. My pressing is very good, very natural sounding and completely devoid of pops and clicks. The song 'One More Kiss' is very quiet which I don't know is deliberate or because it is the last song on quiet a long A side. A gorgeous piece of music to own and lovely on vinyl.

Zamo
Does the song Blush Response sound good on this pressing? I find that the digital file/CD version of this song is very thin/bass shy and would like an improvement on that.

Ramsey`s
All of the tracks are superb mastered full with bass lines according to the standards of these times. Output also high.

heart of sky
incredible SOund...Fantastic. Great pressing..Some rare pop. But not a real problem vs the extrodinary sound.. Masterpiece.

showtime
This album is fantastic. You should get it only for Tears in Rain, one of the most beautiful tracks that I have heard. Solid pressing with minimal static noise.

Elildelm
Good pressing for myself. What a masterpiece.. Vangelis is a genius

I was one of the lucky ones to spot this on sale at HMV. Had it sent all the way to NZ. I didn't want to count my chickens.... but i'm listening to it now and it sounds Amazing! Fucking Amazing! I couldn't resist putting it straight on so i'm getting the odd (very few) static clicks. I can't imagine any other pressing sounding much better than this. If you have the chance, get it Now!

Siatanni
well, imagine no longer because you just need to hear this version: https://www.discogs.com/Vangelis-Blade-Runner/release/4369372 which doesn't have the same problem with low-end distortion (during 'tears in rain' for example). i just did an a/b test and the audio fidelity version sounds far clearer. listen to your copy again and you'll notice what i mean :(

Tori Texer
The music on this record is incredible! Unfortunately the manufacturing ist extremly poor. A lot of crackeling and surface tension! Had to wash it several times with antistatic rinse.Edit: Meanwhile I returend the first copy and got a new one. The second one is much better.

Foginn
Picked up the new pressing of this from Bull Moose. I had and sold the Audio Fidelity numbered red pressing of this. Sound quality on this version is as good or better to be completely honest. Clearaudio Concept MC, MS Phonomena II, KEF LS50 Wireless.

Clonanau
i'm afraid i have to disagree... the low-end on this version is badly distorted compared to the crystal clear audio fidelity version. i have both pressings and when compared you can hear the distortion throughout this pressing, with the easiest place to pick up the issue within 'tears in rain' when the low-end is pushed. such a shame!

I bought this version of Blade Runner - Vangelis LP 180g (East West) from an Australian seller goldmine-records on eBay. My setup is of a Project-RPM 5.2, Ortofon MC20 Supreme, Cambridge CP2 Phono Pre, Little Dot MKiii Pre-amp (Valves) to Myryad mi120 and mi240 pre-amp and power amp, connected via Chord Silver Siren and Chord Oddessey 2 cables to a pair on B&W CDM 1NT speakers. My setup is heavenly smooth very dynamic, low bass and hi frequency treble with smooth sweet roll-off. So how does this record sound? SU-PERB. Just superb, flawless. Deep black noiseless backgrounds and smooth and delicate piano and the amazing synth work by Vangelis. My phono cartridge and it's Van Den Hul diamond also tracks supreme detail. I real show-off record. Amazing!

Billy Granson
Interesting about distortion, what is the cartridge you're using? Curious.

Sorryyy
I've listened to this record on Michell Gyro Deck, Axia Transfiguration Phono Cart, Naim amps and Castle Harlechs speakers compared to my set-up. I can't give it any flaws, or comment on distortion that is in the way of enjoying this version of Blade Runner - Vangelis.

Steelraven
i've written elsewhere on this page about this but you really need to compare it to this version: https://www.discogs.com/Vangelis-Blade-Runner/release/4369372listen again to 'tears in rain' during moments where the low-end is pushed and you'll hear the distortion... that isn't present on the audio fidelity pressing. sad but true!

Goldcrusher
What other vinyl versions do you have to compare to?

Any comments on the sound quality of this press? 1 more character

thrust
Superb quality. Nothing more to add. I think it is even better than Audio Fidelity, red vinyl, edition.

Dozilkree
I think I will have to agree, but there is only a slight problem in clarity due to distortion in Tears In The Rain for only moments, say 1-3 secs and perhaps a sec there after. Well spotted. However, my cart is particularly high quality, and I've heard this album in a $2500 Axia Transfiguration cartridge on a Gyro Deck, where the diamond digs deep and the cantilever design is the lowest distortion. Same with carts like Ortofon Salsa and designs geared to lowest distortion. This album was perfect with the Axia. Elliptical, Semi Elliptical (some Shibata designs) or radial type diamonds perhaps will give you trouble with low end distortion and clarity. So, equipment will also contribute to how much distortion and detail you will pick up unfortunately. One day I would love to hear the Audio Fidelity pressing.

Gavinranadar
it's a good pressing, but not without problems. there is low-end distortion throughout and you can clearly hear it during 'tears in rain', whereas you can't hear it at all on the audio fidelity version (i have both pressings).

Thozius
My copy sounds just perfect, I can wholeheartedly recommend this release - very quiet pressing without any audible surface noise. Bass-heavy Tears in the Rain is a good test due to its sound character and it sounds perfect, without distortion. Given that, I have never heard a different vinyl release, just CD.

Trash
My copy sounds great, clean, flat pressing without any surface noise at all. Haven't heard the Audio Fidelity version though

Jockahougu
It seems to be a repress of the 2015 version, which I think sounds OK. Some cracks and pops, but the Audio Fidelity version is the ultimate to have.

Qumenalu
I was so happy to see one copy in person in Korea, only to found out that my pressing is absolute trash , surface noise everywhere. Sigh.

FireWater
Pleased to see that these are back in stock at Amazon for now as well.

Cordanara
Does this have the dialogue from the scenes still in it? I listened on iTunes recently and that did, wondering if this is the same. Never heard a soundtrack that wasn't just the isolated music before.

WtePSeLNaGAyko
It does indeed have some dialogue through a few tracks

Xtreem
Does anyone know if this is the much praised Kevin Grey mastering? Nothing on the credits about the mastering so maybe if anyone owns both they could comment?

BORZOTA
I don't think Kevin Grey did mastering on this one.It is only a reissue, not a remastered material.I have several copies. Both U.S and European pressings. There are some differences.Tears in the rain sounds like the tonearm will go crazy on European pressing. To much low end and you must be aware this is over 50 minutes music on one single LP.Hm...very tough.Mr.Grey did some magic there. If you have both of these, just compare visually...tears in the rain on U.S. version is double wider than on EU press and that is a track with so much low frequencies and at the end of the side of the record...bad really bad.Wandered why they didn't release it on a double package. That is really odd.I also think this is a restock from 2015.Not a reissue.
