Their best album in my opinion. So many good tracks: Its aint like that, real thing, We die young, man in the box, I prefer this album to their more polished album - dirt for sure

Quashant
This album represents a huge part of 90's American rock history. And it's NOT only a "grunge" album....

Reemiel
When will we see the reissue of this classic on vinyl ???

Dangerous

Marilace
Forget about any "Teen Spirits"... THIS is the best Grunge Album ever!

Agreed.there is no way this is Grunge. This is a hard rock release

Naktilar
Yes, from the one side you can say it....from the other side, personally this is not grunge...

Classic, classic, CLASSIC! How could any good rock/metal/grunge fan NOT appreciate this album for its charm, its simplistic complexity? Listening to this makes me equally elated and sad, thinking of the fate of the legend that was Layne Staley (you will ALWAYS be remembered). To this day I cant listen to his voice without tears welling up in my eyes every time. Alice In Chains was, and will always be NOTHING without Layne; he IS (was) Alice In Chains and no new lineup could EVER come close to the beauty of this once amazing band. Each song on this album displays such an amazing amount of emotion and power. "Love Hate Love" is the epitome of just that raw powerful emotion that AIC does so well. "Man In The Box" is of course an unavoidable classic with its brutal lyrics and soft-spoken angst. If you own this, blow the dust off and give it a re-listen every now and again; reminisce. If youre a "noob", then this is a staple, and by all means, pick it up.

I agree with how classic and amazing this record sounds. One of my favorites. Layne's singing and presence throughout this album and dirt are beyond words. I have mourned Layne since I first heard the news. I thought Alice would eventually come through and make another album but when Layne died it just shot that to bits. Ironically around that same time Jerry was releasing Degradation Trip which is a monster of an album and I settled for it. I think Alice had a natural progression to reforming. First with the Tsunami benefit and then playing shows for a while before recording any new material.William has been doing a great job but could never replace Layne but I am glad they decided to keep going. I really enjoy their two post Layne albums. I have have seen them on tour twice in the past few years and they always pay tribute to Layne and now unfortunately Mike too. They are a humble group of guys who are just soldiering on and playing music. I am glad they are still around.
