This is the third and just another exquisite release in the Dj Connection installment. This dj mix series was produced under guidance of one of Belgium's finest pioneers: Frank Dewulf. This explains the good quality of the production, the soundmastering and the very keen but recognizable artwork of these releases. Besides these technical aspects Frank also had a very good eye on what was going on in the Belgium club scene in the mid nineties. Not only he selected a few of the representing dj's at that time, but he also managed to catch their particular style and track selection on disc. This mix focusses on one of my favorites of that time: dj Marko. Besides his wellknown Sunday evening residency at La Rocca, he also took care of things at the infamous At The Villa club. A similar sound could be heard and experienced at a club called Extreme and the afterclubs Balmoral and Carat. The mix on this cd has a very nice drive behind it and shows Marko’s typical skills and his ability to create a certain uplifting flow. The track selection is outstanding and several of the cuts on this particular release are (or have become) classics. This mixcompilation, together with the one of Phi Phi, stands for an era of full on trance clubbing which was so joyful, so lush and oh so very typical for Belgium at that time. Music was not just music, clubbing was not just clubbing, it was a way of living, the sharing of a wonderful experience. No matter who you were or where you came from, we were all one happy family united by the same feeling. A true pity that this typical style faded away due to the lack of availability of good E and the money driven hunger of some people who decided to turn it into something commercial.
