Hulis
Maybe the artistic inspiration that made Seattle the center of the tormented rock of the 90s is hidden in the peripheral position of that city, in contrast with the epicenters of American rock. Even classical heavy metal, not only grunge, expressed in Seattle its most introspective visions, away from the mood of the 80s music. If Queensryche were the fathers of this meditative branch of metal, Sanctuary were certainly their sons. Into the Mirror Black, second Sanctuary album, expressed a gothic and melancholic component (first evolutive step towards Nevermore music) that made more complex and deeper the traditional heavy metal roots of the band. Epic melodies are here tarnished by a veil of dark romanticism, that made Into the Mirror Black as much thoughtful as any other album conceived in the peripheral position of 80s rock maps.
