I was surprised to see this release, as both a fan of techno and being a drummer myself I found the concept of distilling and capturing the essence of classic drummers using an 808 pretty interesting. I hate to say it but the project comes off as being rather conceptual - I expect Jeff has put a lot of thought into it and really studied said drummers but you have to allow a lot of artist licence and if you're looking for drums only techno loops I'm sure there are better releases out there. That said, I still admire the idea and wonder if there are a few DJs out there with the artistic understanding to be able to use these tools to channel the spirit of these great players - but I expect only Jeff himself would be able to pull it off.
