This is a sampler covering material from 7 releases from 1974-1981, mostly during more of a spacey funky fusion era of the band than the earlier albums which have a much more Hendrix influenced guitar. Globetrotter includes members of Kraan including some nice basswork by Helmut Hattler. Dance of The Flames is from the LP of the same name which, reflecting a Mahavishnu (Inner Mounting Flame, Birds of Fire) influence. Some fans dismiss the later material that has evolved away from the acid-rock roots but Guru Guru spun off from a jazz trio originally and this represents a migration to jazzy funkyness while still maintaining Mani's sense of humor and craziness. I personally find the late 70's and early 80's Guru Guru quite enjoyable and well worth hearing but I'd recommend the original LPs if you can find them and I wouldn't recommend this as an introduction to the band without also seeking out the early stuff they are better known for.
