D-Shake and GTO have seminal classics on this compilation, which appear on many compilations due to their storming popularity from the time. This compilation stands out has having a real bonus for fans - quite literally...The CD sleave states tracks 6, 10 and 11 are bonus tracks, and the bonus mixes of Pure and Techno Trance are what shine here. Both are chilled out, hauntingly powerful versions I'd never encountered before. Pure (Beautiful Mix) makes the hairs on my neck stand up every time!!!A great album - one to treasure.

Along with the "Order To The Galaxy Vol. 1" compilation released in 1991 on Torso [TORSO CD 202], this represents the pinnacle of early dutch style electronic music, in my opinion. No matter how you look at it, "Go Bang! Volume 1" has at least four stone cold rave classics: D-Shake's Techno Trance (Paradise Is Now), House Of Venus' Dish & Tell, Quazar's The Seven Stars and no less than three versions of GTO's anthemic Pure! Actually, most of this compilation is based around early european club hits, which makes this an essential release for those like me who were nowhere near Holland when these tracks tore the roof down, but still have an endless interest in the history of the genre. As far as the music goes, it is heard to categorize and properly file each tune into a separate drawer. These tracks date from a time when electronic music had no limits, restrictions, was tongue in cheek, and hey, was not so preoccupied with satisfying genre geeks. You will hear everything from uplifting vocal snippets, melodies, early house and trance, break beatish rave classics and early trance. The music is pretty simple, but made with soul and thought. After all, don't be surprised when you recognize some of these tunes as tracks you've heard at a party a few weekends ago. Despite their age, occasionally some music here still sneaks into DJ sets, especially at retro parties. An absolutely compulsory listen for old school lovers, or just about anybody interested in early european electronic music. Still to this day, D-Shake's contributions remain among my all time favorite pieces. Especially the paradise is now mix of Techno Trance - it gets me wild every time!
