About the band : Ralph Blakeney is leader and bass guitarist. He's tall and that's plenty! He stands for musical discipline too. Dig him on "Bannard" and "Never on Sunday" among other cuts.Winston Downer plays lead-guitar and is a natural for arrangements and composition. Listen to his "Winnie's Theme" and you'll come to know his strengths. Sidesmen call him "Fats". Maurice Watson is rhythm-guitarist and so the prime mover-and-shaker of the combo. He plays as good as he looks and better!Pat Blakeney is the drummer that sparks things. His taste and economy attract at every performance. Tito Valladares is the diminutive but attractive and wily percussionist (congos) with Tookie Noville on bongos.Wendell Bunyan plays the sounds on clavioline. He came into jazz from the classics so no wonder fans call him "Mr. Music". And he swings. Not heard on this album but a definitive part of the band are Gumbé Benons (emcee and percussionist) with Ossie Applewaithe and Walter Dummett serving as choreographers. Ted. E. Jones does the vocals-pops, folk, standards and the blues.
