I meant to write "excluded from", not "excluded on". The unreleased instrumental from the Hit The North disc on 5 Albums (Beggars Banquet BBQCD 2101) is 4:55, and there are no vocals (as one would expect) except for the refrain, "Hit The North". It would have been logical to name track AA1 the "Instrumental Version" (and inaccurate to claim on 5 Albums that the instrumental was previously unreleased) if they are the same version.

According to the experts at The Fall Online Forum, "Extended Version" is the same mix as HTN Part 3 (but a full minute longer on this 12" than the HTN Part 3 that appears on 5 Albums).

crazy mashine
I am curious about this too, and I checked the discography at thefall.org. The following track lengths are from that site.HTN Parts 1 (4:00) and 2 (3:40) were released as the 7" single BEG 200.HTN Parts 1 and 3 (3:38) appeared on the gatefold 12" (BEG 200T).HTN Part 1, Part 4 (6:00) and Part 6 (5:26) were released on cassette (BEG 200C)."Hit The North Remixes" (Parts 4, 5, and the original Part 1) were released as BEG 200TR.Zeus B. Held remixed Parts 4, 5, and 6 (aka the "Double 6 Mix").HTN Part 4 is Track A on this Canadian 12", and HTN Part 5 is Track AA2, the Dub Version. So what is track AA1 (4:45)? I don't have this Canadian 12", but it clearly isn't a duplicate of BEG 200TR. Thefall.org says that Hit The North (Extended Version) is HTN Part 1, but it doesn't make sense that a 4:45 extended version of the original single would be excluded on the 5 Albums collection (which was marketed to Fall completists). AA1 might be the HTN instrumental (which is 4:55 on 5 Albums), but the 5 Albums booklet says that the instrumental was never released. Another possibility is that the Canadian 12" includes all three of the Zeus B. Held remixes, and that AA1 is a shortened version of the Double 6 Mix (HTN 6) from the cassette. If that were true, there would be no reason to include AA1 on 5 Albums.

Kare
Does anyone have both this Canadian 12" and the "5 Albums" CD set? I'm pretty sure that Part 4 and Part 5 on the Hit The North disc of "5 Albums" are the same as the Zeus B. Held Remix and Dub Version here. But is the Instrumental version on that CD the same as the Extended version here? Their durations are about the same.
