I have just found this band by accident and was immediately curious about the name. I thought this record would be about traditional songs from vietnam from the viet cong epoch, or something like it. But these people seem to have absolutley nothing to do with vietnamese culture at all, nor is there music chronological placed in the antiwar movement. Just a bunch of kids who had obviously no idea how to call their band. That is very sad!

Quemal
That's understandable. I was SO disappointed when I discovered Boards of Canada were actually from Scotland, that I proceeded to burn my entire BoC vinyl collection and urinate on the ashes. You don't even want to know what happened when I found out Kid Rock was neither a kid, nor a rock...

Ttyr
Yeah, they were already ahead of you on that. They changed their name awhile ago. Thanks for the non-album review though.

The Jagjaguwar white edition is a licence and not an original pressing. The Flemish Eye Records (canadian label) white edition is the original pressing of this album.

Agrainel
Looks like the band are changing their name to Preoccupations - http://exclaim.ca/music/article/viet_cong_reveal_new_band_name

Questanthr
This bands name is lyk sooooo iffensive

Galubel
Assuming you mean offensive, why? The name 'Viet Cong' is simply a contraction of 'Vietnam Cong-san', which means Vietnamese Communist.

The Rollers of Vildar
diet dong

Mr_Mole
My copy came with a yellow-ish stain on it, extremely noticeable on the white vinyl. I have yet to see if it affects the sound. Anyone else have this?

Morad
Mine has a brown splotch about the size of a half-dollar that bleeds through both sides. It doesn't affect it at all! Pure white is boring anyway!

MrCat
Unfortunately the stain on the A-side is responsible for a LOT of background noise. The B-side plays fine though.

Blackworm
Yeah mine did. Plays fine.

Berkohi
Nobody buy this while the prices are this much higher then what it's already sold for, ridiculous what it's at right now.

Went Tyu
Sticker is not on the cover

Amerikan_Volga
Dat B-side, holy fuck.

Zamo
Solid album. enjoying it.

OCARO
im a big fan of old liars and this definitely has that vibe.

Coron
That's right. My copy doesn't have the sticker and it's black vinyl.

Rollers from Abdun
Cover sticker states "Debut album from Viet Cong -limited edition colored vinyl." If your copy doesn't have this sticker, it's highly unlikely it's the white vinyl.
