great track! but hideously difficult to mix!

Stricly speaking, Blue Niche is a more Tech-House oriented label that has released numerous quality tracks with progressive overtones. This was the primary reason why Distance-"Closer" came as a surprise when it was released. First of all, the track is far from the minimal sounds of most Blue Niche's releases, and the best way to describe it would be "pure" progressive house. It contains highly multi-layered sounds with warm synthesized chords and strings evolving through the track continously. In addition, it's one of the few tracks that has good usage of a male vocal. However, what truly makes this track stand out is the saxophone sample that is sparingly used though the complex sounds eminating through the tracks progression. It's a great opening track that's reminicent of songs from the Northern Exposure compilations by Sasha & Digweed. This is truly a hidden gem that most fans of progressive house & trance would enjoy.
