One can definitely hear the influence of Pink Floyd, This Mortal Coil and Dead Can Dance on this release. What is surprising to me as a fan of "underground" music that originates in the UK is how well this musical project has been able to include those influences to create something unique. After visiting their web site and googling the members of the project I found that Delonde Bell has also released some music in the form of an album called "Pearls." Also, Gerald del Campo appears to be the same fellow who has written several books in the area of magic, the occult and metaphysics. The music in Almost Masons does have a metaphysical flavour to it, as though it is steeped in mythology, and in fact, one of my favorite tracks "March of The Woodland Fairies" seems to tell an all too familiar story, and without the use of lyrics, which is a pretty neat trick. I am anxious to see what Ego and The Ids does next.
