On Ceremony, DeRosa returns to his roots, crafting minimal, melodic atmospheric guitar compositions with layers of gentle ambience. However, this collection of three pieces sees DeRosa shedding the dense glacial movements of much of his previous work, instead striving for more angelic, spacious and otherworldly vibrations. And perhaps with good reason. Over the past few years, DeRosa has devoted himself almost entirely to working with sacred plant medicine, both in South America and in the US.
These compositions are directly influenced by DeRosa’s experiences working with these medicines in ceremony, namely Ayahuasca and Huachuma, and they mark yet another new chapter in DeRosa’s musical evolution.

Notes
Jon DeRosa – either solo or with a revolving lineup of guests – has been releasing music as Aarktica since 1999. Beginning with his debut album No Solace In Sleep (Silber, 2000), DeRosa’s work has continuously evolved and transformed over the years, from ambient/drone, to shoegaze, to electro-pop, and coming full circle to his more minimal ambient works to date. Ceremony is the first new Aarktica release since 2009’s In Sea (Silber Records) and its subsequent remix album In Sea Remixes (Silber Records, 2010).On Ceremony, DeRosa returns to his roots, crafting minimal, melodic atmospheric guitar compositions with layers of gentle ambience.
