Bloodfire
"Lucid" is a decent track, but not a floor-filler, to be sure. I also cannot help but note the similarities between the melody of "Lucid" and Vincent de Moor's "Mystique Colors". Depending upon the source, it would seem that "Mystique Colors" was released at least a year after "Lucid". Interestingly, "Mystique Colors" was released on Black Hole Recordings; the parent label of In Trance We Trust.

Up to 2005, this was commonly thought to be the hallmark of Phynn's achievements. Though, my perspective remains that Escape was (and still is) the better track, from whose melody was almost identically drawn into Lucid. However, the difference between Lucid and Escape is that Lucid seems to have been intended for far less intensity and, perhaps paradoxically, to make it more anthemic. Also, Lucid is perhaps the more "uplifting" response to the melancholy and spooky sounds of Escape. On its own merits, Lucid is a fine piece of music. The melody of the breakdown abruptly interrupts the song without much warning, signaling that the peak is soon to arrive. A second breakdown late in the song offers new elements, such as a biting supersaw, which gives the overall melody a slight dissonant sound and helps to inject new energy in the process.

Mr.Death
Tiesto played and recorded Lucid on to his In Concert II DVD of 2004, and this was a full seven months before Lucid's release date half way through 2005. When it was eventually released, fans could hear for themselves the absolute majesty of the track. It has a short floating melody in the small build-up before the main breakdown occurs at 3.02. The B-Side to this release "Solitude" is just as good as Lucid, as it certainly lives upto its name in being refreshing and relaxing. Lush string instruments give Solitude added flavour. An amazing release from In Trance We Trust.
