My favorite KC LP. 'Fracture' is certainly the best of the attempts KC made to cross art-rock with heavy metal - far better than the overly mannered 'Starless' on 'Red'. A very strong follow-up to 'Larks Tongues in Aspic', SaBB contains the moments of pacific beauty KC fans come to expect - 'The Night Watch' in this case - one of the few KC lyrics that stands the test of time and maturity. SaBB leads off with a top 40ish rocker - 'The Great Deceiver'. Many of the tracks are live, with a few overdubs and crowd noise wiped away. Bill Bruford - the best 'prog rock' drummer IMO is in top form, and the exquisite interplay between Fripp and David Cross (Fripp would often mimic the electric violin and Cross would mimic Fripp's guitar). I saw this for myself twice in September 1973, which is well captured by SaBB, but not the other two LP's of that version of KC. Not perfect, no KC LP is, but the one I turn to more often than all the others.
