La Voyage was the 1980s family band incarnation of the Miami-based Broomfield family which achieved later solo success by Eugene Wilde (Gotta Get You Home Tonight, Personality, Chey Chey Kulé, etc.), Al Broomfield (Where Do I Go From Here) and Dianne Williams a/k/a Dee Dee Wilde (I Found You, Lap of Luxury). This CD is essentially a reissue of two albums and a bonus track: The compilation takes its title and uses the front cover artwork of the original 1982 LP Never Lookin Back (Again) but it also comprises the full tracklist from La Voyage's second LP from 1987 La Voyage II on the poorly distributed Trans A Records label which released only works by the family, making the original vinyl versions private press collectors' items. The compilation was originally released in Japan in 1992 as All Night Affair. The music is totally 80s, which will be a turn-off for some and a turn-on for others. A lot of the content is filler for me, but you won't regret the purchase for the glorious Never Lookin Back (Again) title track. Also check R.B. This remastered reissue also contains a bonus track of I'm Gonna Miss Ya by Aaron Broomfield (not included in the earlier Japanese CD version) which is a pleasant mid-tempo groover which still works due to the raw(ish) drum programming. Note that this, like many of the 12" mixes included in Funkytowngroove reissues is a vinyl-rip from the original 1981 12".
