Kale
1. We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight (Radio Mix) - 9/10Much better than the album version! The beat and mastering have been greatly improved on this mix. A few of the Latin elements from the album version still linger if you listen closely enough to recognize them, but overall the track has been urbanized to make it more radio friendly, and it's a welcome change! The bassline is great, and the backing vocals compliment the lead vocal very well. Contrary to what the title might suggest, the lyrics are not about a man. This song is about Emma going out with her girlfriends to have a girls' night out - no boys allowed! While it is one of the weaker singles from its album ("A Girl Like Me"), it stands well on its own as a strong pop piece.2. We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight (3AM Mix) - 4/10This remix is very disappointing. It contains almost no vocal, and the little bit of vocal that is included is just from the chorus. The rest of it isn't nearly strong enough to make up for the six and a half minutes spent listening to this mix. What was 3AM thinking?3. Let Your Baby Show You How To Move - 8/10What a long title for a song! Nevertheless, this is one of Emma's better b-sides from this era. It sounds like a classic late-nineties pop hit where electronic music elements were just starting to become mainstream. It's very catchy and infectious! With the smooth backing vocals and slower bridge, it sounds exactly like a track from Willa Ford's album Willa Was Here (which I would recommend if you like this track a lot).
