This, "Siren Song", and his 3-track 12" off Warm Communications are his best work, IMHO. All 4 tunes on this EP hit a certain neurological epicenter that very little music does, combining haunting soundscapes with gorgeous emotional evocations. Breaks and bass are highly original, and every time I listen to these tunes, I hear something new or notice the sounds correlating into a larger woven pattern in a new manner. Incredible sample usage as well, like most of Fanu's output. I wish Subject13 released more off this label.

This is easily one of the best if not the best, modern jungleep's I have ever heard. The quality is almost even in between all 4 tunes, dark, haunted, but deep and beautiful in execution.This guy, I don't know why people don't know him, but Janne is easily one of the great modern producers in drum and bass, withdeep junglist roots and a very solid discography, although he isyoung. If you think jungle is dead or dying you really need to pay attention to fanu. Janne has done a bit of work already but thisep and "are you someone prayer?" may be his opus. Don't sleep onthis one. 5/5

There is a digital version of this memorable ep with two bonus tracks : "Bad karma" and "Shogun VIP", that last one being an heavy weight mighty piece and a must, showing his skills when dealing with steadier (but not less worked) rhythm, eerie atmos(fear) he doesn't need introduction to (here, some continuous haunting chant, both lamento and dark warning, as main element), easily joining the best (and more known) tunes by him.Info from his site fanumusic.com, with a link :)
