What can I say about "Jungle"!? This was my first encounter with the great Lee "Scratch" Perry; heard the Disco Plate version on Ranking Miss P on Radio 1; I knew nothing about it except that I loved it - I had a note of the name and title, I got it taped and expected that would be the only way I would be able to hear it, until I was in a local record shop a couple of weeks later (Ainley's of Leicester if I recall correctly) and there it was, that little 10". I grabbed it quick! The record is absolutely barking mad "I am the future, thunder, ball a' Fire!", . Lee Perry rambles on, makes animal noises "Rastafari says the cat", "Hee-haw says the donkey" while Dub Syndicate lay down a heavy skanking groove - the vibe and production on this are second to none. A few years later I was overjoyed to find the 12" as well in a sale rack somewhere for just a £1.
