I love Layo & Bushwacka as producers and when they DJ live and they did an amazing essential mix around 1999/2000 but to my ears this is not a good mix. CD2 has so much forgettable, boring tech house on it that it's just pure laziness and I love tech house so know my onions. They are capable of far better. It peaks with Alexander Kowalski remix of Agoria but that track would stand out anywhere. I just don't get it and expected far greater things than this.

One of my favourite mixes growing up, and very educational in my early years of getting into electronic music. The track selection and mixing are close to perfect, with a lot of different styles from over two decades of dance music blending seamlessly. CD 1 is more varied and chilled out, while CD 2 is a bit more dance floor oriented. Both CDs are deep as fuck and very relaxing, but at the same time upbeat and very danceable. I owe a lot to this mix - it put me on to artists like The Detroit Experiment, Sha'lor, 4 Hero and others that I might not have discovered otherwise for a long time, and sent me on a path to find a lot of similar artists and styles quite far removed from most of the harder straight ahead techno that I was mainly listening to at the time. I bought the 3LP pack as well close to 10 years ago and still play some of the tracks now. This was one of the last great mix CDs as far as I'm concerned. Back when people still bought CDs and there was still money to be made in it DJs clearly put more time and effort into the mixes they put out. The artwork added a feel to the releases as well, as with this, the first two F.A.C.T. mixes by Carl Cox, and Dave Clarke's World Service, for example. Of course, how it was back then had its pluses and minuses, as does the situation today, with Soundcloud, free downloads etc, but certain things are definitely sacrificed in the abandonment of physical formats. Anyway... get your hands on this mix, it won't disappoint.

A great set of cds. The mix quality is great, not unlike the selection of songs. Sporting a mixed selection varying from house to hardhouse, as well as some slight breaks. Layo And Bushwaka deserve full credit for a great mix. I recommend that you pick this cd up.
