Powerful soul voice breeding in gospel churches. Less known than Etta James but as good as Etta of course, as proved in duet "In the basement", Chess 1966. Incredible. You may perhaps have listened to "Can't let you go" or "Going back to where I belong", two fantastic R&B themes, truly soulful and low-midtempo. To me one of the unrecognised queens of soul and R&B ever heard.
