Amazingly funky! Ripatti's versatility surprises and delights every time I encounter a new release. Some really interesting, fun rythmic work going on here, set against the expected lush textures and rich stabs familiar from some of his other work. Highly recommended.

It seems that with this man there are not only different styles for different monikers, but almost with every different album. This Uusitalo comeback sounds, as mentioned, the same as Luomo, but specifically the Luomo from Vocalcity: Tulenkantaja is, indeed, the most coherent follow-up to that album. Though it has no vocals.Very funky, with some gentle reminiscences of the clicks and cuts from back then, it sometimes sounds like a letter of love to the Force Tacks microhouse. It's difficult to take a standout track, but my favourite may be Lumimies, which is mostly a dub version of "Your soul" from Dub Taylor. Recommended.

Like a vocal-less Luomo, Uusitalo's TULENKANTAJA has a cool and icy house groove, with some smatterings of electro-flourish for decoration. The beats kick in immediately with "Paskaa Musaa," which has less glitch than one would ordinarily expect from Vladislav Delay, but enough to establish parentage. "Odottava Peto" goes more uptempo but still with a subdued feeling overall; this is not an album necessarily destined for the dancefloor. The bottom-heavy "Kalajuttuja" has an appealing reggae counter-beat at its start that adds some considerable bounce, while "Nokkonen Päiväunilla" is probably more messy than it needs to be. "Uutta Verta Hangella" gets things back on track, however, and the title track dubs things out even more. "Misut Irti/Huutaa" adds a nice deep and melodic touch, and "Lasi Hajoaa" ends the album on a deeper note. Nicely done overall.
