A very sad album. Washington must have been really great at one point for Charlie Fuqua to employ him in his spin-off Ink Spots group, but by the time this was recorded his voice was pretty shaky. The whole thing might have sounded nicer with some vocal harmony support and no banjo. Also sad to see the liner notes claim he joined the original Ink Spots in 1948. A grandiose lie that can easily be dis-proven with a simple Google search. An interesting album to have if you collect New Orleans music or imposter/spin off Ink Spots records... otherwise not much quality.
