Gravelblade
Probably their best work, and one of the best albums of 2017

Ferri - My name
Had to give the record an immediate clean as it was pretty grubby, but boy does this sound fantastic.I missed Slowdive first time around and cant believe they were unfairly ridiculed by the press if this is anything to go by. An incredible album from start to finish.

Uaha
It's rare to hear a band can release an album after 22 years and that album automatically shoot to the top of the genre. Slowdive is a gem of a band. I'm both happy and grateful to say I've seen them live and been around to hear their music. Everything pressed on vinyl from them has been nothing short of amazing and there are no words to express what they have done as a band for the rest of us.

A friend of mine recently asked me "Hey man, have you heard the new Slowdive album?" I was like "Slowdive has a new album? That's weird." I recently went on a trip to Yosemite National Park for my first time and I brought their new album with me. On the way out of the park I finally put it on and was floored. Incredible. Can you imagine this scenario...Yosemite? I can't remember the last time I listened to an album and every track was so good that every day I had a different favorite tune. Every track on this is MONUMENTAL...but that first track is just....dayum. That just might be the most beautiful song I have ever heard in my life. 5 stars. THANK YOU SLOWDIVE!!! Do you have another one in you? Because you have me on the edge of my seat.

Dukinos
I went to Vigo last saturday to a Slowdive's gig. Well, iI've never imagine the possibility of seeing them playing live. I don't use to like the meetings of old bands, because it's very difficult to find interesting live shows or new records, but I found that I really love last Slowdive's album and I truely enjoyed the show! It was amazing! After the concert I bought the vinyl just there and I became a very happy person!!!

Super P
I have the black vinyl copy. Sounds perfect, no crackle whatsoever.

Marige
I have the black version and it sounds amazing ! Very quiet with only a few crackles and pops. It is a wonderful album!

Biaemi
I have the black version and its noisy with crackles and pops and thats after being cleaned on Audio Desk record cleaner. Great album, disappointing pressing.

Fuck the format, I can't believe no one's bothered to actually review this album. WHAT a comeback. Best album of 2017 by a country mile + Star Roving the single of the year. I could just eat it. Pure gorgeousness. Humans eh? Clever buggers when they wanna be! FIVE FUCKING STARS *****

Dammy
Ta for actually reviewing the music! We've heard enough about the pressing issues.

Centrizius
Superbly reviewed and absolutely spot on! Just played it for the first time here on new year's eve playing scrabble with my wife. Memories flooding back of 1992-93 at university, listening to all the early stuff. That wonderful wash of guitars, incredible album. Thankyou yanmac for a great review!

Does anyone have more info about the new Japanese blue vinyl edition? It seems it was only sold at the Japan tour, and then Secretly Store, Slowdive official store and Resident Music. Apparently they were all sold out within a couple hours. Are there any other places selling this copy? How many copies are pressed? Is it really a Japanese edition or just a color variant made by Dead Ocean and pressed in US?

Vushura
if you can manage to get a second one, I'd be interested in buying it!

Ndav
On sale at the show in Osaka tonight. It is indeed just a colour variant made by Dead Ocean and pressed in the US. It includes Japanese liner and lyric sheet, plus obi. Will add to the database if I get a chance soon.

TheJonnyTest
500 copies only it seems. Japan tour happens next week. I’ll be at the first show and will check it if it’s for sale there.

Moswyn
Very good questions. Ideally it would be a Japanese pressing in a single pocket sleeve with an OBI. It's probably the gatefold jacket with OBI and blue vinyl pressed wherever the rest were and made for the Japanese market. I guess we'll have to wait til it hits people's hands. I ordered mine off the site, but would be amazed if it sold through all vendors without leaving many for Japanese shops. But who knows?!

Geny
Paper sleeve left a ton of dust and fibers on the record. Lots of surface scratches, two significant dimples on the first track of side 2, and a scratch about half an inch long started at the outer edge of the same side. Under good lighting, it looks like a used record (as Vinylunatic said).Sound quality of the pressing is pretty great though...if you can ignore all the other noise or get one that is playable on every track.

Kabei
After reading all the negative comments about the silver pressing, I decided to order the black vinyl version. What an extremely bad work for this great album, one of my favorites this year. I don't know what happened in the pressing plant but I received it severaly scratched and with some surface dimples. It doesn't look like a new album, but a pretty used one. Anyway, the record itself sounds fine and much better than the digital version (obviously), except for the clicks, crackles and pops everywhere (also a little bit noisy, especially all over the last track).

Kiaile
Same here, had to order a replacement copy, was a bit better than the first, but had an audible mark at the last track, the inner was torn. If i would have ordered a used NM- vinyl, i would have had a strong argument with the seller about a record looking this shitty. Is there no quality control in these days anymore. What a shame, also the mastering could have been way better. The main point is, that this is such a great comeback, so nice tunes.

Xaluenk
My copy had lots of surface scratches and strong flow marks on the B side. Hope the replacement looks better.

Diredefender
Got mine 4 days ago, it was sealed, but looked horrible: surfacemarks, fingerprints and an audible scratch at beginning of side 2. Stuff like this simply sucks, is there no more quality control in these days ...?

Golkis
Replacement copy looked the same: scratches all over. What a shame to sell this kind of quality.

Hurus
finally got around to listening to the vinyl. Holy crap it's so much better than the digital version I have. I'm suspecting a separate master with how different they sound.

Iell
Black sounds good.. silver crackles and pops.. have both to be sure.. go for the regular black if music matters

Dynen
Can confirm, I just got the black and it's fine. My silver is really really bad :(

Ballalune
Everyone's complaining about their special colored vinyl while the regular black looks and sounds great.

Goltizuru
last saw slowdive in ´92 .... this is viny of the year !

Shaktiktilar
If anyone's interested in a dynamic range comparison between the LP & CD, the CD version of Star Roving scored 4db DR while the vinyl version I digitized showed 10db DR. The wav forms are telling: https://i.imgur.com/bGZsR4a.png

Kieel
Interesting, but I can still hear an audible difference between them.

The TT meter is not accurate for vinyl, for an explanation why here's Dynamic Range Day founder Ian Shepherd:http://productionadvice.co.uk/tt-meter-not-for-vinyl/
