This live performance of indigenous Maori singing is similar to a Folkways Records field recording until you hear the audience clap. As of this posting one can still visit a traditional Rotorua Maori Hangi Dinner and performance in New Zealand. There is a very serious nature to the continuity of traditional performance so I mean no disrespect in saying that the album cover is really what drew me in. The sleeve is very high 60's tiki-esque and quite lovely. Track A5, "Haka" is quite powerful.
