During the mid 80's as pirate radio started to take hold across London the musical landscape began to change from the blue eyed northern soul type 'rare groove' to a more laid back stepper style of soul and funk. Following the popularity of Don Blackman's classic album with tracks like 'Since your been away', Chocolate Milk's 'Action Speaks' The JB's Same Beat and many more, black inner city street DJ's now begun appearing on pirate radio and in clubs and sound systems with their interpretation of classic or obscure US black music with soul and fusion tracks often tucked away on throwaway disco albums or b sides to forgettable singles. This song was one of the indicators of where the revival soul scene was heading from it's more blue eyed soul boy uptempo origins. 'Losalamitoslatinfunklovesong' is one of many defining songs preempting the scene that went on to be known as the era of steppers 'rare groove'.
