It would be wrong to sum this record with one review as each side is completely different genre of music.Side a is a modern day jungle classic I’ve played consistently since its release. Such an original track to whats been going on in the jungle. The vocal hook is a breath of fresh air, a break from the over sampled ragga vocals rinsed in the 90s that really don’t need to be re-rinsed. Clever too as i think the sample may be from 2 sources, 1st source is from a De La Soul & Doom track “Rock Cocaine Flow" but that's not the whole sample which is interesting, the bit i know actually says “lets cookie cut the shit to get the gingerbread man” Other side may have thrown ppl, its nuts. Not sure what drug you need to be on to dance to it but its prob a us drug I’m not familiar with.. I can appreciate the production but its not for me altho i don’t mind the odd juke track but more Rashads style/ tracks. Ginseng smash Still sounds fresh 3 years on so yeah defo ahead of its time & I’m still playing it. Big up Stray. This is my favourite track by him.

Coming back to this in 2015 and really feeling it. Reminds me a lot of Reinforced records, which always were ahead of their time

I didn't get it when it came out, despite being really into all things Critical, but I'm going to just make a policy of buying all Critical or Stray material on site. Because the decision not to buy earlier on really came back to bite me in the arse when I realised what massive tunes these are.

When you listen to the tracks in a mix then you will understand. They are tools. I have to get a copy...

This release is so horrible that I felt compelled to comment... Cliche 808 beats mixed thinly with supremely obnoxious vocal samples that just repeat over and over and over and over and over. Seriously, anyone who is a fan of Critical/Modulations or Stray would do well to avoid this. I can't imagine music being less musical or more artless. This combined with some of Stray's newer releases on other labels has convinced me that he is one artist who has lost the plot.

Here we see Stray trying his hand at this whole juke/footwork/jungle concept and bring it to the UK with great effect. There are very few UK artists that are pushing this sound at the moment. So far, personally, I've been underwhelmed with the standard of footwork jungle being produced and these tracks are a positive step in the right direction. A highly refreshing 10".

I think both Critical and Stray couldn't release tracks worse than these...
