Not-the-Same
it's the Demon's Theme that ticks all the boxes for me. i know people may find this funny, but i searched for this tune after hearing it playing in the background of a porno i once watched, true that. I notice it has same sound samples as what's in these 2 tunes. Project 86 - Industrial Bass (Industrial Mix) and - D Shake - Techno Trance (Paradise Is Now) both large old skool tunes i must add.

Too slow no way this is an Anthem not to b forgotten . Dj braintremor

Konetav
I hold on to this bass anthem for now it's a gem people on vinyl all da way

Personal note: Here in 2017, a whopping 25 years after its release, this is my 6 year old's favorite track to fall asleep to. "Too slow," he said at the intro, and I was like, "No, dude, this is the most hectic track you'll ever hear." My older brother introduced me to jungle and DnB back in '94, and this was one of his favorites. Long live jungle! I knew it was the music of the future, I just didn't know what breakbeat, dubstep, and glitch would come to look like!

Who is the girl behind the "Hey yeah yeaaaah ehh yeah" vocal part in A Couple Of Beats? I'm dying to know, it's so majestic!

This release needs no introduction so I will get right down to it. This is an essential release for any D & B DJ. If like me you were around at the time of release, this is a very special tune. If you're new to the scene, I can't think of a more fitting intro to D & B. A great tune stands the test of time and this still graces many a set today. A lush intro, layered, polished, a pounding bass line and drums. Before you know know it - there it is. Bukem in full effect. Every time I hear this tune I instinctively reach for the volume knob. I must admit, I do prefer the longer original 33 release. Worth checking out if you've only heard the later 45 repress.

One of the greatest records ever made. A moment in time.

Good lookings first. Demon's Theme so different at the time, epic and long like 'Music' Jungle wasn't the smae after this, the bar had been raised!

This track was originally going to be released on Basement Records. Bukem had done a special Mix tape for me in 1991 as I used to supply him with promos in my Basement Records shop in Reading Berks. On that tape was a track called Demons Theme, it blew me away and I told Danny it would change the game. At the time Danny was unconvinced but when I offered to release it on my Basement Records label he cut a plate for me. Wax Doctor and DJ Lee who were Basement DJs took the plate and battered it, this extra attention created a huge DJ Demand so Danny now convinced he had a hit asked me if I would mind if he started his own label instead of releasing on Basement. I thought it was a great idea and helped out as I distributed the label for all of its formative years and am proud just to of being involved with this wonderful ground breaking label.

I really appreciate all your fantastically informative and entertaining contributions to Discogs. Thanks for bringing so much untold history to light, and obviously all the great tunes over the years too. :)

nice story, and good to see somebody genuinely helping one of their peers rather than for selfish means, cheers!

Great interesting read

All time classic original jungle IMO, not sure it was 1991 though? More 1993 was the first time I recall anyone actually hearing it?

WinDImmortaL
No,you definitely did not buy this in 1991 good sir!

Mitars Riders
I bought this in 1991 so i guess its 91 (y)

I think the comments on the youtube page clear it all up. Apparently he made it in '91 and was just sitting on it because he wasn't sure if audiences would be ready for it yet so he showed it to someone and they flipped out and were like, you need to show this to people...

Definitely 1992, sort of Darkcore genre, these tunes were played on Bukem and Easygroove sets at Obsession Third Dimension.

@ Stuck_In_1992, you nailed it."trying to break free from the sound of the time"

Didn't really understand the whole Jungle thing until a guy called LTJ Bukem came along with a track - Demon's Theme. Perhaps it's because of pre-existing tastes in music, but the sound really did work for me. The tribal breaks combined with various flora and fauna ambience always puts me in the midst of a misty green jungle.

Demons Theme is quite an over rated track. Its nice however it just doesn't quite capture the vibe of its time. Its akin to Pappa Nu Guinna by FSOL in that its trying to break free from the sound of the time and in doing so it sounds really out of place when played in a set with its contemporaries. I would have to agree that Demons Theme was well ahead of its time. The sound of Demons Theme didn't catch on till about 2 years later where many producers were cloning this sound. For me this release is all about A Couple of Beats which is a very nice track. In particular, the intro is what really grabs me as its this really hard driving jungle tekno beat backed by 4/4 909 beats and chopped up amen drum hits playing at an incredible fast pace. The track breaks down into a nice euphoric cord followed by a female vocal saying "Hey yeah yeaaaah ehh yeah" where after which the track goes into a groovy amen break, then followed by interesting Detroit style techno cords. The track never returns to the frantic jungle tekno loop with the choppy amens, I think thats its only downfall other then the fact that I wish the flip side was a happier remix of A Couple of Beats with tasteful uplifting pianos and chipmunks. Perhaps Danny should have had DJ Seduction remix this, it wouldn't have hurt. Even still, this track is great. Much better then Demons Theme.

You can't slate a tune for being groundbreaking?!Dance music would never have progressed if it wasn't for epic tunes like this. To produce a tune like this in 1991 is nothing short of sensational and an act of genius.
