In Silico represents a pivotal turn in Pendulum's musical direction, one which has drawn lots of negativity. While I'll admit I'll miss the original sounding material, this album is still good. The change to a synth-rock style showcases the vocals of Rob Swire (listen to those f-bombs being laid down on Tracks 1 & 10 :D) and different genre styles (the brass on "Propane Nightmares"). "The Other Side" also showcases some different styles (is it me or does every Pendulum music vid involve running/chasing/or shaky camera action?). "9,000 Miles" is a interesting chillout style track with a synth-riff you'll hum throughout the entire track. "The Tempest" ends in a dramatic soundoff with guitars and synths. So overall, the album I believe is the weakest of the 3 they've released so far (Hold Your Colour, & Immersion), but "Propane Nightmares" is the definite highlight, with "Showdown", "9,000 Miles", & "Granite" right behind.P.S. This Japanese version doesnt offer too much extra. You might be able to get the singles and the normal album cheaper then this release.
