The version of this I remember being played out a lot on the south coast in 1990 (Empire, Sterns, Central Park was the Beats Mix, this version has a kicking break beat and loses all the disco elements. The only complaint of this track is that its too short, no sooner is it on the deck than its ending, so pick out two tracks that go together when putting this in your set!

Most definitely one of the first "Disco Loop" house records. A favorite in underground clubs in cities such as Chicago, "Dance" was completely unique at the time. "Disco" was still a dirty word in 1990-1991. Dance songs were either piano driven House (CeCe Peniston's "Finally", Blackbox) or moving towards Rave and Techno (Joey Beltram's "Energy Flash"). A song that dared to sample a disco bass vamp was boldly referencing a time that was still thought of as embarrassing, and yet anticipating developments that House would make a good five years later. Abstract, yet compellingly danceable, "Dance" can be heard even today in the playlists of more discerning and knowledgeable DJs. "Classic" in every sense of the word.
