I have just learned that the Asiko Rock Group (-76) and this Take a trip with Asiko, are records by two entirely different groups.

Ynye
Yes, please tell us more. Thank you. There are many african Bands called Asiko. But only one toured USA in 70s. That's the one we're talking about.

Hi ! No, unfortunately not. I was myself helped at the time with this by the greatest afro funker I´ve come in contact with. I can guess that it is different musicians.I have also learned that "Asiko" is a word for an old specific music style in Nigeria.

Landarn
interesting! can you elaborate? ? ? ? ? ? ?

A bootleg was pressed in Germany wich pretty much looks like the original. It simply seems a little blurred and it lacks the "MANUFACTURED IN GERMANY""07B293" punching tool edging ! (ATTENTION ! its a mechanical edging, NOT a the handmade edging as on the bootleg)...don't allow a fraudulent business !

Someone has the information this vinyl-bootleg is coming from France. "Made in Germany" is just copied from the original. I can imagine that, France was always one of the biggest bootleg-nations.

Ok, the Nigerian Pressing was on "Tabansi" right? I don't understand how the britisch MCPS can license a recording made and pressed in Germany by a Nigrian Band? Does any Nigerian musician or their children get an royalties? I was refering to Frank Grossner, who wanted to do a licensed reissue some years ago. He was really pissed when CD&LP came out at the same time. If you can whipe out our doubts, we would really appreciate it. Doin Homework. Thank you too.

Hey !? Just bought a record in your real shop some hours ago. Man, that's strange...

I'm not sure if this recent bootleg was pressed in Germany. Actually it's very doubtful because you need a label code and a Gema agreement to press 12" vinyl here. For sure is, that this is done by some lowlife comming from UK. For sure is also that the original was pressed in Germany and to my knowledge it was only sold on flewmarkets. A friend of mine found 10 pieces in NM in the early 90s. This guy (Bill?) should be stopped. Distributers and sellers should show some responsebility. Nigerian people suffer enough already. It makes me sick. I tryed for 3 years to find the licence holder, but thanks to the african sense of bureaucracy, I had no sucsess. I live 20 km away from the studio it was recorded, which is still there. If someone knows anything about the people behind this production, please contact me ! Asiko means time and time will tell. Thank you my nigerian Brothers for giving us your music. p.s.can someone put up a discogs page for this bootleg, please. I don't have the bootleg.
