Pochy y Su Cocoband, also called Cocoband, was a leading Dominican Republic merengue group in the 1990s. The group was founded in 1987 by Alfonso "Pochy" Vásquez, and had a number of hit albums with the Kubaney label
Pochy familia wrote his first big hit at the age of 17. Over the years he has maintained himself as one of the best of the new breed of merengueros that includes: Kinito Mendez, Peña Suazo, Los Hermanos Rosarios and so forth. In cd Pochy shows his evolution but yet keeps his origianl style that made him so popular in the early 90s. If you know your merengue and you listen to this cd you would understand why Pochy's is so pupular. his knowlegde of merengue is unquestionable and this cd shows that.
