Sharpmane

An amazing album from a band noted for its heavy electronics and harsh vocals. Creating this sweet and trippy album of almost kosmische dimensions made me view them in a completely new light. It reminds me of the original Amon Düül although perhaps a lot more 'formed'.I'm not really bothered whether a band can 'play' conventionally or not but it's interesting to note the band's confidence and ability on acoustic instruments.The original songs mingle with well-chosen covers by Richie Havens, Kurt Weill and, most impressively, Suicide. The Young Gods reading of Ghost Rider is a masterpiece of minimalism, their 12 minute version is a revelation. Listen to the one-finger synth pulse which kicks in at the 6 minute mark. Incredible. Simple, yet very effective.This CD version comes with a DVD: Live At Moods Zurich 2006 and Paris 2007. A great record of memorable nights.
