Actress has made many brilliant tracks but side B here is the one I keep coming back to and thinking about. I don't know which track off the original compilation he remixed but it doesn't really matter, he just took a few very short samples and layered them. You still get the manic feel and plink plonk sound of the original but somehow it fits into a normal techno tempo, fast but not as fast as most Shangaan tracks.The catchiness comes from switching between triplets and eight notes. It sounds so awkward and the "melody" is so insistently stupid (in a good way). It's the same head scratching reaction as Rob Hood's "Unix" - how is this music? Isn't this great that somebody thought to do this? Like a lot of great techno simplicity is key here. It's catchy but never boring because the details that grab you cannot easily be reproduced in your head, just little intricacies of timbre and the unusual rhythm.

I too am fascinated with the b side. I sometimes play it at 33rpm - depends what mood I'm in. A side is terrific as well of course.

I´ve been trying but side B might be too much for me. However I'm obsessed with side A.
