(... A CHEESY COLDNESS ...)Diversification of styles (he's in house for years too now), talented vocalists, strong lyrics ... Well that was promising but ... from what i feared when i saw its regressive artcover (hollywoodian and geek i'd say, so californian indeed, so post "summer of love" ...), tunes themselves stressed definitely that something was wrong : everything pro, every track a true song per se (not that collection of clones instead of real albums usually produced for dance music industry), some great samples (... that poignant female voice looped through "Say you love me", so right sounding, memorable indeed ...) etc etc BUT ...... Syrup. Cheese everywhere. Teen thing ... And, worst of all (as i 've been teen myself and perhaps am too old-minded now LOL), a kind of product, precisely, dissolving its "identity" = only hardcore fans may have been forgotten as there is plenty for nearly all communities, even techno (oh yes ... Detroit "is back" ... hmm) with "Midas", not that bad i know but it's not the point. So sad to write this as i liked so much what he used to do.3/5 because, well, it's him anyway but the fact is i really got caught by "Say you love me" alone, for its true human content."Can't describe" and the title track are perfectly crafted, each displaying sonic world of its own (melodic trancey edge in the first, that very recognizable Seba manner to deal with atmo ; some junky "dubsteppian" spirit followed on its twisted path in the last ...) ... BUT ...... in my sincere opinion they are empty and cold : only Seba doing what his name stands for ...(note that some very close assessment could be made about other veterans of same field, for instance Blu Mar Ten ...)So ...... So what !!??Too much of star, sex and drugs, maybe ...??Maybe.Or something in between.

Gotta agree with you on this. There are a couple of good tracks, Identity, Balance of Power, but overall I see think this album is a dark spot on the otherwise excellent SecOps catalogue. I find Seba infuriating, one moment he's releasing amazing break oriented music on his own or with paradox etc, the next he's releasing run of the mill liquid which apart from his excellent production skills sound like any number of liquid producers. Some of the tracks on this album make me cringe with their cheesiness, Too Much Too Soon, Nothing Can Replace ::shudder:: Luckily it's now 2 years on and this doesn't appear to be a trend he's followed with some excellent music from SpecOps the past couple of years.
