Still In Mind
A mostly excellent, and pretty much forgotten, early 70's rock Lp. "Eye to Eye", "Road Runner" & " Merry Go Round" have a slightly soul tinged, great upbeat heavy early 70's sound, somewhat like a bit more soulful "Grand Funk Railroad". In fact, most of that whole first side is primo...one of the most enjoyable sides of music in this style I've heard. Just full of meaty, soulful, old school 70's heavy rock goodness..:)The second side is not as good as the first and starts off with the weakest track on the Lp, however it's still got a few worthwhile tracks..."Rosie Lee" and "To You Who Are Watching" are the best of the upbeat ones on side 2. Midway through the side, they take a musical detour for a low key, almost gospel-y piano based instrumental ("Loving You)...maybe a bit out of place here, but excellent too, and actually, probably the best track (...or at least, my favorite) on the side."Steel" is amazingly off-the-radar and obscure for a major label item, but worth tracking down...Note: Some of these tracks were later released on a very rare Lp on the "tax scam" Illusion label in 1976 under another band name..."Charmer" and the title..."Your Presence Requested". That Lp may also include some more great music from these sessions.
