Just recently I found a copy of the original Takoma pressing and was quite surprised at the differences. It seems that most of the subtle, dynamic upper-harmonics were lost in the mastering of this reissue. If you want to hear a true marvel of minimal electronics, listen to the original. If not...

Small Black
If the artist isn't happy about it, I think it's not too far of a stretch to consider it a bootleg.

Worla
Sounds bloody great to me; taken from tapes in the Concord archives who be the current owners of the actual Takoma back cat so how exactly is this a "bootleg"? (It's just not "officially sanctioned" by the artist due to trans-Atlantic licencing issues) Be curious to hear the re-recorded version on RVNG but this is the closest we'll ever get to owning the original release without shelling out half a ton! Anybody got an original Takoma pressing handy to compare the mastering job? I wouldn't trust 4Men with Beards or Plain as far as I could throw 'em but Superior Viaduct put quite a bit of love into their re-issues from where I am standing. Buy this and the new double anthology. It's simply that good an album to own two versions of it at least!

Golden Lama
This is not a bootleg, though the artist is not happy about it, please see: http://thewire.co.uk/in-writing/interviews/craig-leon_

Nuadador
This relase is still an unofficial bootleg, official reissues out later this year!

SiIеnt
So, It will be reissued later this year again by takoma?

Mr_Jeйson
for better or for worse, a reissue doesn't need to have the blessing of the artist in order to be legal and official. as long as there are licensing and publishing companies, and not everything is self-produced and -released, there can be slightly-awkward-but-legitimate situations like this that occur.

Eayaroler
I was going to reference posts from Craig Leons twitter account he made last night however they've since been deleted. The record is licensed from takoma by the looks of it but Leon was saying that it has nothing to do with him and that an 'official' reissue of it is coming out later in the year. Semi-official??

Tori Texer
this version is licensed from takoma (via concord music group) -- it's official!
