Notes

Recorded by Jake Kelly at his house in Portland, Oregon, except tracks 7, 8, 10, 11 recorded by Matt Roth at Olive Juice in NYC.

"I Like Giants" was inspired by a nice talk with Genevieve Elverum about one of her songs. "The Competition" was originally written for Esopus Magazine #4 Imaginary Friends compilation, loosely based on a story by Mia Gomez. The melody and the last verse of "France" are from the song "Sheer Wonder" by David-Ivar Herman Düne and the song is mostly about what a good friend, musician, and dancer he is. "12/26": Me and M.J. talked a lot about feeling helpless after the tsunami and decided to write a song about how we felt. On "My Rollercoaster" I sing bits of some of my favorite songs to sing along to on the radio in my car: "On the Road Again"-Willie Nelson, "From a Distance"-Nanci Griffith, "One"-Metallica, "Semi Charmed Life"-Third Eye Blind, "I'll Be (Your Crying Shoulder)"-Edwin McCain, "Life is a Highway"-Tom Cochran, "Every Day is a Winding Road"-Sheryl Crow

"If humans could have one super power, what would it be? I have finally decided that it would be the power to see things from another's perspective. You could be in a war and hear the enemy's mind praying to make it home safe. There wouldn't be as many wars."--Hallie Geier http://www.lovehallie.org

Jek
Kimya has said that legal action was taken against her from one of the bands covered in the conclusion of "My Rollercoaster" (but did not say who it was (though said it was not Metallica)). With the album OoP and that song being no longer available on iTunes I would think this album will either A. Never be reissued or B. be reissued but not with its original tracklist.

Fenrikasa
It was either Willie Nelson ("On the Road Again") or Julie Gold ("From a Distance"), as both choruses have been removed from new version of the track on her bandcamp page: https://kimyadawson1.bandcamp.com/track/my-rollercoaster-new-version "For legal reason I had to re-record this one. Before the album came out I specifically asked K Records about this song and they told me everything was fine, but then I was sued for one part of the medley in the original version. Part of the settlement was that the album had to go out of print until the song was pulled or re-done. This was happening at the same time that I began to realize K Records was not paying me and lying to me about what they owed me. So instead of re-recording the song and letting K reissue the album, and continue keeping the money from it, I let the album stay out of print until I was completely free from K and I could release it myself. So here it is - after all these years."
