This was the debut LP for multitalented St. Paul producer Josh Virgin. An assortment of brilliant moments in the studio between all the joints smoked and MPC programming this record should have catapulted him to stardom. But as complicated as the interwoven textures on this LP and the rhymes put together by various MCs (Brown Mug "Much Words") etc.. are is as complicated as the lives that the artists lived at the time of this recording. A great albeit virtually unknown LP that stands the test of times and is as good or better than many other releases coming out of Minneapolis and St. Paul (Rhymesayers included)... Shame that Joshs music has fallen through the cracks of time and that he wasn't able to shine as he's one of the most creative producers out there. Had his drive matched is talents in the studio he would now have hit records being played on the radio. I guess there is still time for that. Recorded in England and St. Paul this album captures Josh in some of his best moments. Give this album a listen as it is much better than half the music you now hear in modern Hip Hop. Shame that few people have as of yet even heard nor reviewed it.
