There is a moment in time where a producer reaches his golden moment. Not to say the previous ten years was not quite good, but following Joel Mull's career from the very start, I am positive that this was that moment for Mull. The story starts on the Harthouse label. This may confuse people. Harthouse might be one of the top 5 labels of the 90's. I don't want to explain that as you should be aware. Back to Mull, the track "Stepping" is what you are buying here. It is proper Tech-House. I don't even like to label it that but calling this Electro-House would be buying into the cliche'. The track itself is lush, full of life and layered thick. Joel wastes no time in saying he knows his way around the studio. Every little detail is defined. The mastering sounds like Nilz doing Dave Clarke. The track however follows the Kompakt route maybe with a little Mike Ink thrown in. I should not compare this because honestly it deserves your attention. it is the type of thing you need to hear because Electronic Music keeps evolving. This one record goes beyond the means of proper. Mull's talent is now at the top of the stack in the middle of a scene that continues to evolve.
