Question: I happened across a vinyl version of this during a senior's centre garage sale. It's a sealed version (the only reason I picked it up) and I have not for the life of me been able to drudge up anything about this particular version online. It's also all in spanish, which I'm not fluent in. Could anyone give me some info as to what it is, what it's worth in sealed condition and what it sounds like? Thanks.

By the way, I had this CD, but it was stolen at a hand-car-wash in Sunnyvale, CA. I miss it.

This is an excellent collection; Negrete's best rendition of the "classic" Mexican "rancheras". By the way, some "classic rancheras" were actually written, some of them in this collection, by classical-music-educated composers (e.g., Manuel Esperón, author of "No Volvere," "Cocula," "Ay Jalisco No Te Rajes," "Yo Soy Mexicano," and "Amor con Amor Se Paga.") that the Lázaro Cárdenas government (1928–1932) sent to Europe for their training, having returned to Mexico to write, mostly rancheras. Some of the Cárdenas’ time rancheras were aimed at spurring Mexican nationalism and social-cohesiveness after decades of civil war and owning to the ongoing threat of Bolshevism, which, after its great success in the Russian Bolshevik Revolution, was very appealing to the populace in underdeveloped and developing countries.
