Morpeth is from Poland and has had many releases on labels like Smell the Stench and Industrial Noise Records.The release can be best described as noise, but it goes deeper than that it’s rhythmic, noisy, quite well planned ear assault. It’s not as aggressive as some noise releases but this has more than just power electronics in your ear, I like the way this drifts in and out of a certain melody to be replaced by another melody, kind of rolling with each other. The samples used in a couple of the tracks are very enjoyable, I do tend to like music with depth and with some tracks bordering on ambient drone type music this release certainly has the quality of a lo-fi listen but it creeps at you with the violent distorted car crash sounds. There are moments in this release where I wished the noise didn’t take over, just leave the melodies for longer, let the strings progress more but it’s up to the artist really what they do and if Morpeth prefers the noisier side of life than that’s fine as Black Drone has a selection of other releases that tender to your needs. The sound of rolling reverb and distorted rhythms are very much that of Jansky Noise not so harsh more in the low region of frequencies and low cut samples used to add the necessary depth for such release.The fillers for the album are quite nice to; it adds the emotion that gets killed by the noise onslaught that follows. World and Grandmother are nice little tracks that most ambient fans will appreciate.I’ve noticed this had a re-release of I guess Morpeth’s own label Dead Synthesis Records “Limited to 1 copy” (cough) what’s the point so there are 14 copies of this hanging around, that 1 copy certainly made the difference. - Noise Brigade (more on: www.noise-brigade.webs.com)
