This review is on the remaster work: It is difficult to say if this is better than the 1985 CD pressings from Polydor and derivatives. This remaster will become a matter of preference. There is no loudness race in here. The people who are more sensitive to medium frequencies may enjoy this version better. This version always boosts the bass which is good. However, the first reissues on CD are brighter and clearer, with less bass. You may find that you prefer some versions of a song over one to another and this can be messy: For example, I prefer "Souvenir of China" from 1985 Polydor over this Epic Remaster. However, I do prefer "Orient Express", "Arpegiator", "Night in Shangai" from this version over the 1985 Polydor's. I suggest that you stay in peace with this one since it also gives you the convenience of having everything on a single CD, because the older issues are hard to find now in Mint condition - and their booklets are totally grey scale printing, as opposed to this one which is coloured like the vinyl. I would run away from the 2014 Dave Dadwater's remaster though which definitely made The Concerts in China another victim of the loudness race in its latest remaster issue. If your ears do crave for more treble and mediums, stick with the older pressings.

I find the remaster more balanced and yes the added bass boost makes a huge difference. Its punchy but not overly saturated. Nice job in my opinion over the original pressing!

The remastered version of this classic piece of art sounds just as good as can be expected, but what better is; say goodbye to the old bulky 2CD plastic box and its black & white booklet for a slim see-through jewelcase featuring the full colour artwork from the LP sleeve and of course the most practical of all, the entire album is now present on a single disc. One that always gets to travel in my case/logic pack I might add.
