Snowskin
Theres three main musical influences driving Novo Homo: Laibach, DAF and probably his own deranged conception of what we could call Jazz enterely performed by a total deluded and druged orchestra. Although the music preserves a martial tone as background, the DAF influence its evident in songs like: sexual panzer, king of obscene and prinzessin, the raw primitivism of the synths, and the elemental rythm. The laibach influence its evident in the way he constructs the lyrics as a manner of anthem in order to give more power to the song. needless to say that hes not a singer but more a trouvador. But the real interesting part of this work its the intro Vlepit followed by the obscure and deep "the singer who fall grace from song" its absolutely demolisher lyrically and musically, a song about human decadence and degradation, obsession and pain. Border patrol follows this style along with "when love has gone away", "jenie regrets rien" and clinical as broken bone all dealing with the theme of war, personal deceit and decay. This music its confrontational but in subtle way, in a metaphorical way and thats probably one of its successes. The last song: "Rat line" its awesome. reminds of the beginnings of laibach and its peculiar twisted way to create ambiguity, one its not sure if the song its intended to scare about the brutal declaration of fanaticism or if it just another way of saying that the long time hidden rat its emerging and its already among us. A pretty good album if you are up for a shady moment of reflection about the ridiculous constitution of history and the void human pretentions. Bain Wolfkind certainly knows how to put you on your place.
