Martin Solveig steps firmly into dance-pop with HEDONIST, an album aimed directly at the crossover status right from the upbeat opener, "Everybody." Of course, there's the compulsory soul track with "If You Tell Me More," but for the most part, it's upbeat house. His interest in African music still appears in "Black Voices," but, more likely, you'll get the rocking guitar stabs of "Rejection" and "Jealousy." The gentle strums of "Dry" and "Don't Waste Another Day" go for more of a ballad feel and the smoothness of "Something About You" edge towards romance, and he returns to his native language for the cover of Gainsbourg's "Requiem Pour Un Con." Not quite full-on hedonism, but still plenty to enjoy.
