The mix you all should want here (along with the roobarb & custard tune) is definitely the Choci remix- 'Gyrating Intestines mix' it was a Carl Cox favorite and played whilst he went wizardy on three decks.... That is most definitely the mix everyone should be buying this excellent 12" for.....listen to all those fantastic samples then that bassline...

I picked up a copy a few months ago at local store Fantasyland for $1 which is priced about right. Everyone was jumping on the Charly bandwagon and FFRR wasn't about to miss out on a possible chart topping toy town jingle Richard did that Pacman tune for FFRR and Mark did this, the only mix worth listening to is maybe the Gyrating Intestines Mix which from memory features the last amount of monkey samples.

For anybody who grew up in the 1970s and the 1980s this record is great fun. There is no attempt here at taking itself seriously; instead the emphasis is on placing in as many Monkey and Kung Fu samples as possible. This is all set to a backdrop of the classic 1970s disco smash 'Kung Fu Fighting' by Carl Douglas. Out of all the 'toy town rave anthems' from the early 1990s, probably on this, 'Charly' by The Prodigy, and 'Rainbows In The Sky' by The Hypnotist are still playable. “Pigsy, Monkey’s here!”

I feel in my heart if hearts that i shouldn't like these Shaft releases as I consider myself to be a real 91-93 collector of true hardcore genius and these were very commercial releases. So when i first heard Monkey i was so gratefull that the sample they used was awful and that generally the whole tune was a bit crap and then i catch the remix of the rhubarb n custard tune on the flip hidden away as track two and i find myslef back to where i started wishing it wasnt good, but alas it is good and acutaully the techno tune before it isnt that bad either, although i have heard the same piano sample being used to better effect in other tunes. So in summary ignore the A side and concentare on the flip but the main tune is the R&C remix.

If you were a true collector of true hardcore genius then you should know that the Choci remix (Gyrating intenstines mix), that you refer to as 'techno tune...not too bad', was a Carl Cox favorite and played whilst he went wizardy on three decks.... That is most definitely the mix everyone should be buying this excellent 12" for.....listen to that bassline...
