A: Tech House. 45RPM: Spunky, there's a happy innocence about it that as a Techno fan is hard not to be a bit cynical about. It really is full of pep. There are elements of Rotation Records or Jel Ford. Thoroughly pleasant synth sequences and a bass synth that perplexingly sounds (to me) like incidental productive periods in the A-Team series? Loads of progression just a little hard to champion. Instead of sounding properly classic it sounds more "of it's time". Maybe it just needs another five years in the barrel (to mature?) and it may be classed as a lost gem. [EIGHT] B: Techno. 45RPM: Far more conventional classic techno sound. Starts with an sublime chord set before the beats even arrive and when they do they suit very nicely. Lovely liquid build up to the track you don't get in later arrangements. Synth bass and further chord touches have you expecting a stone cold classic. But then the glorious initial chords disappear and your left with very little to enjoy. I know you can't prolong them to last the entire track and perhaps this is why the convention is the reverse arrangement but it makes the body of this track a bit of a slog. The joyous chords do return for the majority of the final third save for the vintage one note breakdown. Hard to rate as at it's peak it's stunning but they'd want to be something fairly distracting going on not to lose a few in the middle section. [EIGHT]
