Königsforst... It´s beautiful soundscapes, are a sonic trip, the powerful kick drums mixed in a wonderful way with the deep layers... I really love this album, in every sense. I used to listen the whole album in my night walks, before bedtime too! (It´s a powerful dream summoner) Essential ambient Masterpiece! 5/5

Dolid
This album, though not a desert-island must-have, is still beloved. It has the muted, wet feel of dub techno, but without the dub bass lines and obvious delay effects. It's almost like dense, drone ambient with bass beats, but the drones are not synthesized, rather they're derived from dissonant, minor-key, slowed-down orchestral loops, and the beats are very much in the background. Similar concepts explored in the 2000s include Biosphere - Shenzhou and "Boheme Rouge" from Thomas Fehlmann - Visions Of Blah, and elements of Carl Craig & Moritz von Oswald - ReComposed and remixes thereof.

o o oooohh, oppala, has anybody realised that track 1 is NOT königsforst but from the 12" oktember by gas???, compare with it ;-), incredible, so WHAT has this track to do on this cd-version???

Pipet
This LP is majestic in it's sonic scope. Thunderous kick drums carry the listener through a falling leaf kaleidoscope of forest laden dreams. Gas has shared his psychedelic memories of times gone by. Simply beautiful music and a collection of songs that lulls me to sleep every night.

As long as it's not Nah und Fern - which has ruined it!

This is the real deal DO NOT BUY THE NAH UND FERN VERSION which has ruined track five by over compressing and so-called remastering. I go to sleep to this every night.

Rit
Hear, hear! I sleep to this every night as well. Epic material!

Pooker
A shame, its the best track in the entire suite...

Gorisar
have to agree, track five on Nah und Fern is really fucked up. on the other side, all CDs for such a price (which is rather ridiculous in comparison with buying all four separately) is the real deal.

In my opinion, the cd DOES differ significantly from the lp, since there are tracks on either format that are not on the other. Also, I think this is Voigt's best album, sooo melancholy, i love it. If you're into this, be sure to check out Jan Jelinek's 'Loop-finding-jazz-records' [sic], which is similar in style and atmosphere, albeit a little bit more rhythm-directed. These are two of all time favourite records.

While I think that the other Gas releases are better as a whole, the first track of this one really makes up for this since it is among the best. It takes me somewhere else and makes me think of a long, hot and dark summer. As with the other Gas releases the artwork is wonderful as it is not only beautiful but also perfectly captures the spirit of the music. As far as I know, though, there are not so many significant differences between the vinyl and the CDs. It doesn't matter that much which version you get as long as you get it.
